A former Governor of Kebbi State, His Excellency, Ambassador Saidu Usman Nasamu Dakingari has assumed diplomatic duties as Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Türkiye.
The diplomatic engagement got underway when Dakingari formally presented his letter of Credence to Turkiye Government last week in Ankara. The presentation of credentials represents more than a formal diplomatic ceremony. It signals the beginning of a new chapter in Nigeria-Türkiye relations, with Ambassador Dakingari assuming responsibility for advancing Nigeria’s interests and strengthening cooperation between the two countries across key areas of mutual interest.
As Nigeria’s principal diplomatic representative in Türkiye, Ambassador Dakingari is expected to leverage his extensive experience in public service and diplomacy to deepen bilateral engagement, particularly in the areas of:
- Trade and Investment
- Education
- Economic Cooperation
- Technology
- Defence
- Culture and other
- Strategic Partnerships
Being a former Governor, Ambassador Dakingari brings to the assignment considerable experience in governance, public administration and international engagement. His new responsibility therefore places him at an important point in Nigeria’s diplomatic efforts to expand its partnerships and create opportunities that directly serve the country’s national interests.
Nigeria and Türkiye have maintained longstanding relations, with both countries sharing expanding interests in their respective national development. The Ankara assignment provides an important platform for further consolidating these ties and identifying new areas of collaboration.
