The Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu has extolled stakeholders in Hajj management for their outstanding performance towards the success of the Hajj operations, particularly the 2026 Hajj.

The IGP made the commendation while delivering his goodwill message at the Lecture and Awards ceremony organized by the Independent Hajj Reporters. The event took place on Thursday, the 20th of August, 2026 at the auditorium of the National Mosque, Abuja.

Represented by the Chief Imam of the Nigeria Police Force, Imam Yaquob Alhassan, the IGP disclosed that the level of coordination in flight arrangement and other welfare of the pilgrims is commendable, saying the tempo should be sustained in subsequent Hajj operations.

The IGP said pilgrims’ spiritual and practical awareness about the Hajj and other civic responsibilities are important for the success of the Hajj operation. He then applauded the Federal Government for equipping NAHCON sufficiently in order to discharge its mandate satisfactorily.

He added that, through interagency collaboration with NAHCON, DSS, Immigration, and other stakeholders, the Nigerian Police will continue to ensure the safety, dignity, welfare, and security of Nigerian pilgrims before, during and after the Hajj exercise.

Mr. Disu appreciated the Independent Hajj Reporters for awarding excellence, noting that the recognition will encourage better service delivery for the benefit of Nigerian pilgrims.
